Paul Krassner was a guest on my podcast,’Time 4 Hemp’, on several occasions and after one of his visits he sent me this autograped copy of the artwork he and Wally Wood (artist at’Mad Magazine’) created in 1967. Paul was the Editor and Publisher of’The Realist’ magazine and thought this piece of art would be funny. The’Disneyland Memorial Orgy’ framed canvas print, illustrated by Wally Wood, was a highlight of the satirical, underground magazine’The Realist’ (founded in 1958 by Paul Krassner). This highly collectible artwork caused quite a sensation when it was first published in 1967. Paul Krassner contacted’Mad Magazine’ artist, Wally Wood, and without mentioning any specific details, told him the general notion of the memorial orgy at Disneyland. Wally accepted the assignment and created this magnificently degenerate montage. Its ultimate distribution prompted Disney to file a lawsuit which was eventually settled out of court, allowing Paul to continue to produce and distribute the artwork. The print given me by Paul is 18″x 24″ and printed on glossy poster paper. This wall-art piece is a copy of that poster (with Paul’s autograph included). It is 16″x12″ (so as to print in 300-dpi quality) on a cotton canvas with a lovely wooden fram. This horizontal gallery wrapped canvas print will always look as tight and flat as the day it was made.
